Leah Hanson is a dedicated social worker with experience building programs, supporting policy initiatives, and strengthening community partnerships, Leah works at the intersection of direct service and systems change and brings a strong commitment to justice, collaboration, and innovation to every project she undertakes.
She holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Social Work, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management, all from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has worked for area nonprofits providing direct service and support in housing programs, homeless shelters, and substance use treatment centers.
In addition to her professional work, Leah serves on the board for the National Association of Social Workers, Minnesota Chapter (NASW-MN). She brings years of experience in community organizing from her roles with the DFL and Indivisible St. Peter/Greater Mankato. She currently serves as Chair of Senate District 18 DFL.
She has extensive experience in policy advocacy, advocating for compassionate and just solutions for housing and homelessness, mental and behavioral health, disability services and more.
District 18A is a diverse area including all of Nicollet County, the southwest corner of LeSueur County and an area of northern Blue Earth County.
This district includes farms and fields, bustling downtowns, and beautiful residential neighborhoods. These communities and rural areas are filled with people that want a just and equitable future for all.
